WHAT TO EXPECT:
Some general information is posted currently on the given tournament
websites. Specific pools and playing times are usually not posted
until a week or two before because teams add and drop up to the last
week. Coaches usually attend a meeting to find out the details the
evening before the tournament starts (usually around 7pm). Then
the
coaches will ask the team/parents to meet in the lobby of the hotel
later that evening (usually around 9pm) Coaches will go over hotel
and
tournament rules at that time. Coaches are in charge of the
team at
the tournament. Team parents are in charge of the girls at the hotel. Coaches
are around to help, but they need "time-off" too.
Team parents
will be in charge of supervising girls at the hotels. For
the 13a, 14b, 14a, 15a, and 15b teams there will be a mom and
3 girls
in each room. These rooms are paid for by Athena. The
daughter of
the respective mom will be in their room as well.
Since
team moms are getting their room paid for, they will also be in
charge of doing laundry when necessary, providing maps, and arranging
transportation for each girl, and filling a team cooler. If
your
daughter will need to ride with another parent either to the
tournament or at the tournament we have a "release" that
needs to be
signed by the athlete's parent.
Team
parents will be given money by the club to pay for the cooler food
that will be kept at the tournament site. They will also
be
given enough money for a team dinner. This will cover most of
the
meals especially if your hotel offers a free breakfast. If the
hotel
does not then you will need to make sure your daughter has enough
money with her to cover the remaining meals.
At
most tournaments the teams play half a day (either an AM pool or
PM
pool) for the first two days and then a bracket play on the last
day.
It is impossible to tell what time they will be done as it is
contingent on how well they play. |
