Olivia Akana
Olivia played as a 6 position Outside Hitter at Yreka High School in Yreka, CA for the 2007-2010 seasons and was a team captain and awarded MVP all 4 years. During that time, Olivia was nominated All-League and participated in the conference-wide All-Star game in 2010. Olivia played Middle Blocker during club seasons in the Medford, OR and Ashland, OR areas, starting with the North Medford Volleyball Club and then M'Ocean Volleyball Club. She also participated in multiple summer clinics and camps over the years at Oregon State University, St. Mary's College, University of Hawaii, Southern Oregon University, and Sacramento State University. Olivia attended college at OSU, and decided to pursue music as her main area of focus over athletics, but kept her love and connection to the game alive by playing in both indoor and beach intramural leagues while at school. Olivia knew she wanted to coach from a young age and started assisting with summer clinics for 4th-8th graders at her local YMCA when she was in high school. She was the head coach for the JV team at Bedford High School in Bedford, MA for the 2017 & 2018 seasons and is currently the assistant Varsity coach at Caldera High School in Bend. (Go Pack!) She also assisted NPJ Bend's 15 Nationals Team for the 23/24 season. Olivia lives in Bend with her partner and dog and enjoys spending time hiking, rafting, mountain biking, cooking, singing, and of course- playing and coaching volleyball! Olivia is proud to be a part of the Athena team, to be a mentor to upcoming athletes, and to share her knowledge and love of the game!
